Halle (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Halle’s new €38,000 mobile playground, built by Zander Steels, was created by Charlotte, Lieve, and Karlien. It offers fun and learning, moving across city spots like Clasplein and Grote Markt.
As VRT News reported, Halle has a new mobile playground. It’s designed to move around the city. Kids can play in different public areas. 3 People, Charlotte, Lieve, and Karlien, thought of the idea. They saw that kids needed something to do when their parents were out.
They entered their playground plan in Halle’s “Idea Seeks City” contest. Their idea was chosen as one of 8 winners and got money to build it. After 3 years of work, they built a playground. It’s set up in a shipping container, so it can be moved easily. This playground can now go to many different places in Halle.
What is Halle’s €38K mobile playground doing this summer?
The mobile playground in Halle cost €38,000 and has a slide, climbing parts, and other wooden play tools. The city worked with Zander Steels, a local builder who makes wooden treehouses, garden houses. Zander mentioned that local people can help make their city better. The playground moves to different parts of Halle so more children can use it.
“We let our imaginations run wild, but we also incorporated a few educational elements,”
Says Zander.
“The children can look for historical figures-we call them ‘Halse heroes’-and this way they learn a little about the history of our city in a playful way.”
According to officials, the mobile playground in Halle is made for more than just sliding, climbing, and running. These fun things are still important, but kids can also learn while they play. There is a scale where children can weigh themselves with stones.
There is also an abacus to help with counting and a game with letters to help them learn the alphabet. Other wooden games are there to make kids think and explore. One of the makers says the goal is not just to have fun. He believes children remember things better when they learn through play.
They mentioned that this playground can be taken apart, moved, and set up again in only a few hours. Zander Steels says it is a great thing for the city. Right now, it is at Clasplein in Lembeek and will stay there until July 23rd, 2025. Then it will move to Grote Markt, the main square in Halle. Later, it will go to the square near the swimming pool.
