Free New Year’s Eve party in Mechelen: Alderman Kristof Calvo will host festivities

Mechelen (Brussels Morning Newspaper): On December 31, 2024, Mechelen’s Grote Mark will host a free New Year’s Eve party from 11 PM to 3 AM, featuring local DJs and low-noise fireworks. Alderman Kristof Calvo emphasises community support for the event.

Mechelen’s Grote Markt will be turned into an open-air party to end the year on Tuesday evening, December 31, 2024. The historic square will host a free event with live music, performances by local artists, DJ sets, and food and drink stalls featuring regional specialties. The event is coordinated with local businesses and volunteers, showing teamwork in the city. As Alderman for Events Kristof Calvo says,

Without them, there is no party.

What to expect at Mechelen’s New Year’s Eve 2024 celebration?

The event will bring people to celebrate the end of 2024 in Mechelen. There will be public transport so all people can get to the Grote Markt. All the local authorities will be sure to have security arrangements that will keep everyone safe. It has been said that this celebration gives a chance to look back on the year and welcome the new one with music, fun, and the lively spirit of the city.

The New Year’s Eve celebration in Mechelen starts at 11 PM with music from local DJs Sherman & Shane, Sliq & Slim, and Funktastix. There will be a countdown at midnight, followed by low-noise fireworks that are better for animals. People can’t set off their fireworks, or people might get fined. People can park in nearby lots or use bike parking. Free party buses are available, but everyone needs a ticket before 5 PM on December 31. Besides the main party, other venues like the Moose Bar and De Nachtwinkel will also have celebrations.
