On July 16, 2024, a woman who divorced her husband in 2007 broke into her ex-husband’s home. She wanted to see her two sons who lived there, so she smashed the glass in the back door to get inside. She mentioned that she was feeling strong emotions and still have unresolved issues with her ex-husband.

Attorney Steve Geerdens, who is defending a man, his new wife, and their two sons, said he has never seen a house so badly damaged in his 25 years of practicing law. He described how everything was ruined, including two scooters and all the pots and pans. He also mentioned that the woman involved locked a dog in the fireplace. Although she has no criminal record, she is noted for domestic violence, stalking, and drunkenness. Recently, she was given a two-year suspended prison sentence for attacking another ex-boyfriend with a box cutter two years ago.

The woman got a new one-year suspended sentence. She won’t go to jail if she gets help for her drinking and mental health. She also has to keep away from her ex-husband and his new partner and pay them and their two sons 15,684 euros for damages.
