Kortrijk (The Brussels morning Newspaper): The E17 motorway between Kortrik-Oost and Aalbeke has returned to three lanes in both directions after roadworks were completed. The temporary two-lane setup was in place since last Monday for safety during maintenance work.

The E17 motorway between Kortrijk-Oost and Aalbeke is having roadworks done, which has changed how traffic flows. Since last Monday, there are only two lanes open in each direction instead of three. This change is to help with the construction and maintenance work going on, making sure both the workers and drivers stay safe. Drivers should be careful in this area to avoid delays or accidents.

Has the E17 motorway between Kortrijk-Oost and Aalbeke returned to normal traffic flow?

The switch to the two-lane setup was planned and done carefully. Workers worked overnight to take down the old road signs and put up new ones to help guide traffic in the new lane setup. Doing this at night was important to keep things running smoothly and to avoid busy traffic times. The lane reduction is likely to slow down traffic, especially during busy times. Authorities suggest that drivers plan their trips carefully and pay attention to the new lane markings and signs. The two-lane setup will stay until the construction work is finished.

On  August 31, 2024 around 5 a.m. morning, traffic on the E17 motorway between Kortrijk-Oost and Aalbeke went back to using all three lanes in both directions. This change happened because the roadwork that required the temporary two-lane setup has been completed. Overnight, workers finished the necessary changes to the road and signs to switch back to three lanes. They reinstalled the road signs and ensured that all lane markings were clear. This effort aimed to quickly restore normal traffic flow while keeping safety in mind. Now that the three-lane setup is back, drivers can use the full capacity of the motorway, helping to ease congestion and reduce travel times that were affected during the two-lane period.
