Aalst (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Denny Verbiest, creator of Samson, will be buried in Aalst’s Siesegem crematorium on Saturday, April 19, 2025. The police will deploy extra officers to manage traffic and ensure safety due to the large attendance.

Denny Verbiest, from Dilbeek, will be buried on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Aalst. He was initially scheduled to be buried in Dilbeek, but the Dilbeek funeral home opted to shift it to a larger venue as they anticipated many people attending.

They communicated with Denny’s relatives and Studio 100, which is the firm he worked with, and all agreed that they should conduct the funeral at Siesegem crematorium in Aalst. Officials added that the facility is large enough to accommodate everyone who would wish to go for Denny’s funeral.

How is Aalst preparing for Gert Verbiest’s funeral on 19 April?

The police in Aalst are getting ready for a lot of people to come to Denny Verbiest’s funeral. They will have extra police officers working near the crematorium to help with traffic and keep everyone safe.

According to Lisa Wynendaele, the extra police officers will help direct traffic, make sure everyone is safe, and help people who are there for the funeral.  The police are working with the funeral organisers and other people in Aalst to make sure everything goes well.

“We assume that many people will come to Aalst to pay their last respects to Verbiest, and that is why we are initially deploying extra traffic police anyway,”

Says police spokeswoman Lisa Wynendaele.

Police officers will be present at the crematorium when Gert Verbiest is being buried. The police do not anticipate any trouble, but they are taking special precautions since so many people are expected to attend.

“We do not expect any security problems, but it is always good to be prepared for anything when there are a lot of people in a place,”

Lisa Wynendaele said.
