Sint-Niklaas (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): De Lin introduces a €1 all-day travel ticket and group ticket option, enhancing public transport in Sint-Niklaas. Alderman Carl Hanssens supports alternative parking solutions amid Grote Mark construction starting October 8.

De Lijn has announced a new ticket that offers all-day travel at a lower price. This ticket is valid for the entire day, allowing passengers to travel as much as they want, including returning to their parking lot. This initiative is designed to make it easier for those who park their cars and then use public transport, as it eliminates the need for separate tickets for the return journey.

How is De Lin improving travel options in Sint-Niklaas with new tickets?

De Lijn has introduced a group ticket option, a first in Flanders. This new feature allows one person to purchase a single ticket that can be used for multiple travelers. The buyer simply indicates the number of people in their group, making it easier for families, friends, or colleagues to travel together under one fare. This option reduces the need to buy multiple tickets and encourages group travel, supporting De Lijn’s goal of simplifying public transportation.

It has been said that buses from the Waasland Shopping Center run frequently, making it easy to travel. A bus leaves from platform 2 every 10 minutes, and during busy times, it can leave even every 5 minutes. This service is designed to help commuters reach important spots in Sint-Niklaas quickly. Tickets cost just 1 euro per person and are valid for all bus lines going to the station and the Grote Markt, covering both trips. This new ticket system provides a simple and affordable way to get around the city, whether people heading to the station or the city center.

The city is working quickly to make it easier for people to get around since the construction at the Grote Markt is going faster than expected. Starting October 8, the parking lot will be closed, which is inconvenient on market days. Alderman Carl Hanssens said they are teaming up with De Lijn to offer other options. Buses and bikes can still go through, and the Waasland Shopping Center has 2,500 parking spots. On Thursdays, a free bus will take people to the market, and there are about 900 parking spaces available in the northern area. Other parking lots in the city center will stay open.
