Cyclist, 56, dies after collision with car in Roeselare

Roeselare (Brussels Morning Newspaper): An accident occurred on 23rd October at 4:30 PM at Westlaan and Groenestraat involving a 56-year-old cyclist from Hooglede. He suffered critical head injuries after colliding with a car and died later that evening. The public prosecutor’s office has engaged a traffic expert to investigate the incident.

An accident occurred on 23rd October around 4:30 PM at the intersection of Westlaan and Groenestraat. A 56-year-old cyclist from Hooglede was riding towards Noordlaan when a car attempted to turn and did not see him. This led to a collision, causing the cyclist to fall to the ground.

What led to the fatal cyclist accident at Westlaan and Groenestraat?

The cyclist suffered serious head injuries from the fall. Emergency services quickly arrived and provided first aid to the injured cyclist. He was taken to the hospital around 5 PM in critical condition. Despite the medical team’s efforts, the cyclist died later that evening, as confirmed by the Rio police.

The public prosecutor’s office has hired a traffic expert to investigate the fatal accident. The expert will examine the accident scene, gather evidence, and determine how the crash happened to decide if any legal actions are needed.
