What caused the serious accident involving a young boy in Ostend?
On 10th August at Saturday a young boy in Ostend had a serious accident. Timmy Van Assche a spokesman for the Ostend police said that the boy opened a window by himself without anyone helping him. He then crawled onto the windowsill and fell from it. The fall was serious enough to hurt the boy badly. Emergency services including the Medical Urgent Group (MUG) got to the scene quickly. They gave first aid to the boy who was hurt but stayed awake during the help. After getting initial treatment he was taken to the hospital for more care. The situation around the fall suggests that it was a one-time event and no one else was involved in causing the accident. The investigation will probably look into what happened before the fall and any safety issues related to the window or the area around it.
The local police said on 11th August that the child who was in the accident has had surgery and is doing okay given the situation. The surgery was done to take care of the injuries from the incident and the child’s recovery is being watched closely. In response to the situation the local police’s victim services helped the affected group and the boy’s parents. The day after the incident they provided support to the family and children making sure they got the care and help they needed during this tough time.
