Easter is fast approaching and you may be looking for nice ways to spend the short holiday season.

If so, an upcoming concert in Brussels city centre could be just the thing.

The Holy Wednesday concert takes place at the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula in Brussels on 1 April, just 4 days before Easter weekend.

The concert will be dedicated to Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, featuring mezzo-soprano Isabelle Everaerts de Velp and the Penserosa string ensemble directed by Maia Silberstein.

Also performing will be Laure Stehlin on traverso, and Xavier Deprez on organ.

The programme will also include works by Johann Sebastian Bach.

The concert starts at 8pm in the beautiful Brussels Cathedral.

An event spokesman said, “It promises to be a lovely concert and made all the more memorable for being set in a wonderful location.”

The complete programme is:

* Variations on La Folia by Marin Marais

* Aria “Erbarm dich” by J.S. Bach (St. Matthew Passion)

* Concerto RV 156 in G minor by Vivaldi

* Stabat Mater by Vivaldi

Admission is free, but reservations are required.
