Car crash accident in Ghent claims lives of young couple

Ghent (Brussels Morning): Two young people died after their car crashed into the Scheldt River in Ghent. Police are investigating the cause of the single-vehicle accident

What caused the fatal Car crash in Ghent?

A car went off the road near Warmoezeniersweg and ended up in the Scheldt River. A man and a woman were in the car and were found in the water. Despite the quick response from emergency services both people didn’t make it. Their identities haven’t been shared yet out of respect for their families. The local community is very upset about this loss and a memorial has been set up at the accident spot to remember them.

The police are looking into what happened in the accident. According to police  no other car was involved so they think the car might have lost control by itself. They’re checking if things like a car problem, road conditions or the driver’s health could have played a role. The police are telling drivers to be careful especially near water areas after the accident. They want to make Warmoezeniersweg safer to avoid similar incidents.
