What caused the truck to overturn on the Brussels ring road near Zaventem-Henneaulaan?
The public prosecutor’s office has appointed a traffic expert to delve into the details of the tragic incident. From the preliminary investigation it was found that the trailer of the truck collided with the guardrail on the right side resulting in a tire becoming dislodged. This caused the vehicle to lose control initiating a slide towards the stone median of the highway. Ultimately, the truck tilted completely over at that point of impact. These specific findings provide a clearer picture of the chain of events leading up to the accident.
Peter said:
“It’s a really severe accident, and the traffic disturbance is just as severe”
Peter mentioned that the incident has not only resulted in a significant loss but has also caused substantial disruption to the flow of traffic in the area. The severity of the accident and its impact on traffic highlight the importance of safety measures and the need for caution on the roads to prevent such devastating events in the future.
Bruyninckx from the Flemish Traffic Center mentioned that a truck accident caused fuel leakage and spilled grain on the road near Zaventem leading to a complete closure of the Brussels ring road. By 6:30 am two lanes on the inner ring road were open but the outer ring remained shut. The heavy traffic disruption affected around 100,000 daily commuters causing significant delays on the ring road and nearby highways like the E40.
Traffic Chaos in Brussels: Avoid Ring Road
The traffic center says it’s best to avoid the Brussels ring road and Zaventem area right now because of the accident. They need time to clear the road and move the truck so it’s going to take a while. Traffic is really bad with queues on the inner ring from Strombeek-Bever and the outer ring from the Vierarmentunnel. The E40 is also stuck especially from Heverlee. Traffic center mentioned that if you’re traveling between Hasselt and Ghent go through Antwerp but watch out for morning traffic there too. Keep updated on traffic info maybe check the website as there are some issues with the traffic center’s X system.
