What measures is Hostel Lybeer taking to prevent repeat break-Ins?

The owner of Hostel Lybeer in Bruges Stephane Kolijn got a worrying call from a guest last Tuesday night. The guest said the office door was wide open which made Kolijn really concerned. When he checked he found that the cash register was empty with money missing just like what happened two weeks ago. Kolijn found out that again a few hundred euros were stolen. These repeated thefts have not only cost him money but also messed up how his business runs. The break-ins seem planned making Kolijn really anxious and making him think about improving security to stop this from happening again. Kolijn thinks the thief might have sneaked in with other hostel guests coming in. He believes it’s the same person each time but the police can’t confirm that yet.

Kolijn from Hostel Lybeer in Bruges is doing something tricky to deal with the thief. Since they can’t stop the thief from getting in they leave a bit of money out to be taken. This way they hope the thief grabs the cash and leaves without causing more trouble.Kolijn feels frustrated but hopes this trick will protect the hostel and its guests from further harm.

Kolijn has been preparing for the thief by leaving something easy to take something not too important. They’ve been doing this for about a year and a half because they can’t keep the burglar out. The police confirmed break-ins on July 5 and July 24. Another place got broken into on July 10 but it’s not clear if they’re connected. The investigation is still going on.
