Sint-Genesius-Rode(Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A Sint-Genesius-Rode BIN (Neighbourhood Information Network) led to the arrest of a burglar who robbed homes in the Priorij district. The burglar entered an estate house within the Priorij district to steal valuable possessions.

The Sint-Genesius-Rode Neighborhood Information Network (BIN) resulted in an arrest when a burglar entered a house in the Priorij district to steal valuable possessions. Residents were able to help track the situation through the BIN activation by the police department. The active involvement of neighbours proved essential in recognising the criminal, which led law enforcement to make an arrest following the crime.

A burglar entered the Priorijwijk home with his associate last Friday to steal valuable possessions. After the BIN activation by the police, multiple residents started being watchful. The local community worked together successfully to capture the burglar who carried stolen goods that appeared in video surveillance footage. One of the burglars successfully fled from the scene. The police department underscored the significance of community engagement through this statement:

“This shows how important good cooperation between the population and the police is,”

They said.

“That is why we want to call on the residents of Sint-Genesius-Rode, Drogenbos and Linkebeek to install the Buurtpreventie24 application on their mobile phones. In this way, we can work together to create a safer living environment.”

What is the background of the neighborhood information network?

The Neighborhood Information Network (BIN) operates as a community-driven operation to build cooperation between residents and police forces designed to enhance area security. The local BIN at Sint-Genesius-Rode proved vital to controlling local crime by leading to the arrest. The Buurtpreventie24 app serves as the network tool through which residents submit suspicious reports and receive alerts from police authorities in real time.

Modern security technology has been implemented throughout the neighbouring municipalities of Linkebeek and Drogenbos as they build safer neighbourhoods.

The police organisation continues to highlight how community networks achieve better protection of the public and lower crime statistics. The specific incident demonstrated how community outreach programs help residents track down criminals because residents actively contributed to the investigation.
