Art lovers rushed to Aldi this morning, 7 December, to buy ‘Cosmogolem, Giant of Hope,’ created by famous artist Koen Vanmechelen. The store is selling 10,000 copies for 25 euros each, with the money going to support a new project in Zimbabwe. Many fans arrived early, excited to buy a piece of Vanmechelen’s art, with some even going to different Aldi stores to increase their chances of getting one.

Bertine, a former aesthetics teacher, woke up early on 7 December to try and buy ‘Cosmogolem, Giant of Hope.’ She researched and thought each Aldi store would have about twenty copies, which isn’t many. As she looks at the long line, she worries about getting one. Jens, waiting behind her, starts counting the people ahead and feels it might be close. Bertine is a big fan of Koen Vanmechelen and has seen his performances and visited Labiomista in Genk. She loves his famous chicken artwork.
The store was about to open, and the line was getting longer. Two women were planning to rush for the deals. When the doors opened, everyone rushed to the cash registers. The women worried if there would be enough items left. Bertine and Jens came out of the store happy with their Koen Vanmechelen artwork. Jens says they won’t sell it; they want to keep it at home in a special place.
