What caused Belgium’s record breaking September heatwave?

On September 1 of this year, the temperature record was smashed again in Belgium. At 3pm it reached 29.3°C in Uccle  the only other month when this happened was August Time for getting down to facts and extinguishing myths. “But even here we can demonstrate that climate change is a fact”, said Frédéric Hallet, a senior climatologist with the institute who bases his statements on hard data. “Not only have the monthly and annual mean temperatures risen in the last 12 years, but it also was shown that even on June 13 temperatures shot upwards more than anywhere else in Western Europe.” The heat wave continued throughout the day on September 1. Around 6:30 PM, the Royal Meteorological Institute stated that as of this moment it hit 31.3°C, which is an all-time high for our country. This figure not only beat the previous record but also set a new standard for September 1 in Belgium.
