Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – DEME, a Belgian company, is buying Norwegian Havfram for €900 million to boost its wind farm capabilities. Havfram has 600 million euros in projects, with new boats ready by 2026.

DEME, a company in Belgium that works on projects in the sea, bought Havfram, a Norwegian company that builds wind farms in the ocean. The deal cost 900 million euros. DEME wants to build more wind farms, and Havfram is good at putting wind turbines in the water.

Havfram has special boats that they use to do this. Officials mentioned that this deal will help DEME become a leader in building wind farms. Havfram is based in Oslo and is known for being good at moving and installing wind turbines. DEME wants to offer more renewable energy services.

Will DEME’s €900M acquisition of Havfram boost global wind farm projects?

According to officials, Havfram is building 2 new boats that are perfect for putting big wind turbines in the water. These boats will be ready to work in the second half of 2026.  They are already booked for projects.  The new boats will help Havfram install the bigger, more powerful wind turbines that are being built now.

They mentioned that by buying Havfram, DEME gets these new boats and Havfram’s knowledge about building wind farms. This will help DEME compete with other companies that are building wind farms around the world.

Havfram, the Norwegian company that builds wind farms in the ocean, has jobs worth 600 million euros. These jobs are for building some of the biggest wind farms in the world.  The wind farms will start working between 2026 and 2030. Havfram has about 50 workers and is going to be very important in the growing wind farm business.

According to the officials,  wind farms in the ocean are expected to grow a lot over the next 10 years.  These jobs are important because they will help to build a lot of wind farms in the ocean, which will help the world use more clean energy.

DEME expects to finish buying Havfram by the end of April 2025.  Havfram is owned by 2 companies: Sandbrook Capital and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board. Officials mentioned that DEME wants to build more renewable energy projects and be a leader in the global wind farm business.
