Agota Revesz holds a degree in English, Sinology and Comparative Literature (Eotvos Lorand University of Budapest), and a separate degree in Theatre Directing (Academy of Theatre and Film Arts Budapest). She worked as a freelance stage director, translator and project manager before being assigned as a diplomat for Hungary in China. Having served over five years, she decided to combine her practical experience with research, and moved to Berlin in 2015. She has taught extensively China-related or theatre-related courses at different universities, and is an advocate of the culture of debate. Since 2018 she has been an academic staff member of the China Centre at the Technische Universität TU Berlin.
