Antwerp (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Antwerp police carried out a public nuisance operation in Seefhoek and Keyserlei Friday evening, Oct 31, 2025, resulting in 10 administrative and 2 judicial arrests, and over 70 reports for violations.

As GVA News reported, on Friday evening, Oct 31, 2025, Antwerp police carried out a large operation against public nuisance in Seefhoek and on Keyserlei. The action followed complaints from residents about disturbances and unsafe behaviour.

Officers focused on busy public areas, including Park Spoor Noord, Spoor Oost, Sint-Elisabethstraat, Diepestraat, and De Coninckplein. Additional patrols were also done along Keyserlei to monitor activity and prevent further problems.

“The operation focused on all kinds of public nuisance,

says Kim Bastiaens, spokesperson for the Antwerp police.

“They were reinforced by external partners, including the Immigration Office, and internal partners, including the mobile unit, the dog squad, and neighbourhood teams from various regions.”

What actions did Antwerp police take during the Seefhoek and Keyserlei nuisance operation?

During the operation, police checked 102 people and 31 vehicles. The inspections led to 10 administrative arrests and 2 judicial arrests, said police spokesperson Bastiaens. Reports were filed for drug possession, illegal fireworks, and a fight.

Police also focused on traffic violations. Officers issued 70 reports for illegal parking and other traffic offences. The authorities said the operation was meant to enforce the law and reassure residents and visitors.

Police in Antwerp have been conducting operations aimed at decreasing public nuisances in busy areas. In March of 2023, the officers were deployed to Seefhoek after receiving complaints of disturbances on the street and drug-related use in the area. They checked several individuals and vehicles and issued one ticket. In July, officers were deployed to Keyserlei to respond to illegal food and drink vending, traffic violations and minor criminal offences.
