Antwerp (Brussels Morning) – Students completing childcare courses at Berchem Campus supported by Syntra AB and partners funded by APPeL3 are encouraged to advance in careers aided by innovative training promoting skills and growth.

On Wednesday  June 5, the students who finished the “Logistics Employee in Childcare” course will get their certificate at the Berchem Campus. This shows that everyone worked together to solve problems in childcare jobs. About a year ago Syntra AB Childcare Kinderspel, and Wingparent got money from the APPeL3 fund of the Province and the POM Antwerp which is part of the Antwerp Provincial Partnership for Lifelong Learning. They wanted to help people learn more skills and keep learning especially those who didn’t go to school for long.

The group created two training programs for childcare one for logistics employees as a starting point for the official Child Caregiver training and another for workplace coaches to help colleagues in their jobs. These programs cover the usual job skills for childcare but also include digital skills and language support like using Artificial Intelligence.

How are Tailored Training Programs Transforming Childcare Careers in Antwerp?

The  preliminary process reduces barriers for individuals to engage effectively in an APL process for child care workers” explained Syntra project coordinator Ann De Cnodder AB. She expressed satisfaction that some graduates are already aspiring to progress in their careers. Lieve Jacobs a teacher at Syntra AB highlighted a student who secured a job as a logistics employee at a daycare center during her training emphasizing the opportunities training provides. These positive outcomes serve as motivation for similar programs. The project is financially supported by the Province of Antwerp to enhance the employability and resilience of workers through tailored training programs focusing on strengthening basic literacy and fostering a learning culture in companies.
