Alken (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – FC Alken and Alken United conflict on the football field. The city created the Alkens Platform for Sustainable Football (APDV), led by Alderman Andres Lesire, to help resolve the issue.

2 football teams in Alken, a municipality in the province of Limburg, Belgium, FC Alken and Alken United, are fighting over who gets to use the football fields.  The city wanted to give each team the right to use their field, but that caused a disagreement.  Alken United was started by players who left FC Alken’s youth team in 2023.

FC Alken said that Alken United can’t use the fields anymore because they think it goes against old agreements. Alken United said that the city should make sure they have a place to play.  The city council is trying to help the teams work things out.  They said that if the teams can’t agree, they will make sure both teams have a place to play, especially when the weather is bad.

Can Alken’s new football council help FC Alken and Alken United reconcile?

The city council created a group called the Alkens Platform for Sustainable Football (APDV) to help the 2 teams work together. The APDV wants both FC Alken and Alken United to agree on things that will help both teams. Alken United agreed to the plan, but FC Alken is still worried about Alken United’s registration and how it will affect their money.

Even though they disagree, FC Alken said that young players from Alken United can still use the Terkoest facilities. The city hopes the APDV will help the teams work things out and make sure football in Alken stays strong.

According to Alderman Andres Lesire, the APDV will meet twice a year. People from both teams, the city, and some other people will be in the group. They want to help the teams work together, talk about what they want, and find ways to make everyone happy. This way, the teams can make agreements that will help everyone.

Alderman Lesire said the APDV is looking to the future. They want to make sure football in Alken is strong for a long time. By bringing together different people, the council wants to help everyone understand each other and work together.

They hope that this will help FC Alken and Alken United work together peacefully in the future. This is a new way for the city to work with community groups. The city wants to help people in the community get along and solve problems.
