A man stabbed near Ingelmunster town hall, 1 arrested

Ingelmunster (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A 53-year-old man was stabbed in the neck near Ingelmunster town hall on Friday, April 25, 2025, around 8 p.m. After pub visitors caught the attacker, police arrested him. The victim was taken to the AZ Delta hospital.

A 53-year-old man was assaulted in Ingelmunster, West Flanders province, Belgium, on Friday, April 25, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m. He and his wife had been to a pub in the town centre. They departed from the pub at approximately 8 p.m. to walk to their car, which was parked opposite the town hall. A man assaulted the husband while he was walking to his car.

The attacker stabbed him in the neck. The man was seriously injured but managed to make his way back to the pub. People at the pub helped him. They gave him first aid and waited for emergency services. Paramedics arrived and took the man to AZ Delta hospital in Roeselare.

Why did a man stab a stranger near Ingelmunster town hall?

People at the pub saw the attack. They knew it was serious, so they chased after the attacker. They managed to catch him and held him until the police arrived. The police arrived at the town hall and the café after the stabbing. They closed off the area. They arrested the attacker. They started to investigate what happened. 

The police talked to people who were at the café. They also spoke to people who helped catch the attacker.  Experts looked for clues at the scene. The police are trying to figure out what happened. They said the attacker and the man he stabbed didn’t know each other. They don’t know why the attacker stabbed the man.

Eyewitnesses from the café reported to the police that the attacker was behaving unusually prior to stabbing. They informed the police that he was fidgety and agitated. Some people said he was just standing around, not talking to anyone. The police don’t know if he was on drugs, had a mental health problem, or if something else made him do it. They are waiting for the results of tests to find out more.
