Hasselt (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Vercammen Woonprojecten donated €15,000 to Hasselt Jessa Hospital’s Children’s Fund. CEO Ivo Vercammen and care manager Jan Bert Willems plan to upgrade the teen and children’s hospital areas.
As VRT News reported, the Children’s Fund of Jessa Hospital in Hasselt has received a donation of €15,000 from Limburg-based project developer Vercammen Woonprojecten. The contribution coincides with the company’s 25th anniversary.
CEO Ivo Vercammen said the company chose a different approach for the celebration. Instead of gifts, flowers, or champagne, the company asked guests to give a donation.
“We already celebrated with our partners, suppliers, and loyal customers. This time, we wanted to show kindness to others,”
Vercammen said.
“Together, we’re going to refresh the adolescent area in the children’s ward, redecorate it, and pimp it up a bit with a new flat-screen TV, a game console, and the like,”
says Jan Bert Willems, care manager at Jessa Hospital. How Will Vercammen’s 15K Boost Hasselt Jessa Hospital Kids’ Areas?
The donation will help improve the hospital’s children’s areas. Willems explained that rooms with beds are mainly for patients’ stays. All other medical procedures and activities are held in separate rooms. For children staying longer, schoolwork and educational activities take place in social areas. Adolescents can use the spaces for recreational or therapeutic activities.
Vercammen Woonprojecten is actively supporting the creation of a new teen room at Jessa Hospital. The company has brought in a professional interior designer to develop a 3D concept for the space. The design will be reviewed in collaboration with the hospital’s department head before work begins with suppliers.
“There’s room for it in our operating budget, but thanks to donations like this, we can do a little extra,”
says the hospital’s care manager.
“We always have countless ideas to make the stay more pleasant for children of all ages, but unfortunately, these are expensive projects for which we have to rely on external donations.”
The Children’s Fund at Jessa Hospital provides a platform for donations to support projects like the teen room. Officials mentioned that the fund ensures that every contribution, regardless of size, is used effectively to benefit patients. Detailed information is available on the hospital’s website.
The Children’s Fund was established in 2018 to provide a structured way for donors to contribute. Since its creation, the fund has financed new play areas, school spaces, and therapeutic rooms. Over the years, it has received support from local organisations and individuals.
