Mol (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Pennenzakkenrock will become a 2-day festival from 2026, due to overcrowding. Director Igor Geubbelmans announced the change. Star acts included #LikeMe, Timon Verbeeck, and fan-favourite Average Rob.
As VRT News reported, in Mol, a municipality in the province of Antwerp, Belgium, the Pennenzakkenrock festival, which is currently happening, has announced a big change for next year. The festival will now be spread over 2 days instead of just one. According to the organisers, the event has grown too quickly and is now at its maximum capacity.
Festival director Igor Geubbelmans explained that the current setup feels overcrowded due to the large number of students attending. By extending the event to 2 days, the organisation hopes to welcome more students while ensuring a more relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone.
He mentioned that a key aspect of this change is that each day will likely feature a different musical lineup, offering attendees a unique experience depending on which day they choose to attend.
What activities and arrangements marked Pennenzakkenrock 2025?
According to officials, this year, there are even more things to do. People can ride the octopus or the swing carousel, and there’s a chill zone if they want to relax. One student from De Zandloper primary school in Nilen said they can’t wait to dance and party.
“I hope I get to be on stage with Average Rob, because it’s my birthday.”

According to officials, the Pennenzakkenrock festival was good this year. Everyone was excited to see their favourite singers. People were especially looking forward to #LikeMe and Timon Verbeeck. But the person everyone wanted to see was Average Rob! One girl even wished she could go on stage with him. Teachers liked the festival too. Teacher Sarah Timmers said the students needed to relax after their exams. The festival helped them have fun after all their hard work.
“We are prepared for all weather conditions,”
Says Dorien Hofkens of Pennenzakkenrock.
“There are shelters for the rain and there is also free sunscreen for when the sun comes out. Hopefully, the promised clearings will come through soon.”
The Pennenzakkenrock festival caused some traffic problems because it was so popular and happened at the same time as the annual fair in Mol. To handle all the cars, the roads around Zilvermeer, where the festival was, became one-way. Other cars were sent on different routes to avoid traffic jams.
The police asked people to stay away from the area if they could. To help parents, there was a special drop-off and pick-up zone. Buses were also available to take people to and from Mol station and Zilvermeer.
