Roeselare (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Jolan F., an Antwerp man, got 4 years in prison and a 10-year management ban for fraud and forgery at KS Roeselare, causing €110,000+ in damages.
As VRT News reported, Jolan F., an Antwerp resident, was sentenced to 4 years in prison by the criminal court in Kortrijk. He also received a 10-year ban from holding any management position. The charges were for fraud and forgery related to his involvement with the football club KSV Roeselare. The club was already in financial trouble after its Chinese owner left.
Jolan F. pretended to be the new sporting director, promising money to save the club. He gained the club’s trust and signed contracts with players and suppliers, promising financial support. However, the promised funds never appeared, and the contracts were fake. Players were offered professional careers and housing, including unpaid hotel stays, but were left with nothing when the club went bankrupt.
How did Jolan F. cause the collapse of KS Roeselare?
Jolan F. was charged with about 40 counts of forgery and 12 of fraud. He faked documents and pretended to be a club executive to trick people. The club, board, and players reported over €110,000 in damages, with many players still owed money.
According to officials, the deals were impossible because the club was already in trouble. The board didn’t know about these actions, and the club went bankrupt. His actions made the club’s problems worse, leading to its downfall.
In 2022, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison for sexual offences. He also has to pay over €85,000 in damages. The court said he was deceitful and harmful, ruining a football club and repeatedly exploiting people for his benefit.
