Leuven (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Kesselse Feesten funfair in Leuven is continuing under a new group, KesselViert, after 56 years. The event will be held from June 6-9, 2025, in Heuvelhofpark, focusing on sustainability and community.

The funfair and flea market in Heuvelhofpark in Kessel-Lo, Leuven, Belgium, will be happening again this year, from June 6 to 9, 2025, during the Pentecost weekend. But there’s a new group in charge. The old group, Kesselse Feesten, has closed after 56 years.

4 friends, Arthur, Bart, Vincent, and Stin, decided to keep it going. They formed a new group called KesselViert and will be running the funfair. An official from the city, Bert Cornillie, is happy that the funfair will continue because it’s a big part of the community.

Can KesselViert revive Kesselse Feesten funfair in Leuven?

The park where it is held is being improved, and the organisers want to improve the funfair to be more environmentally friendly, accessible to everyone, and more neighbourhood-centred. They are coming up with a new plan for the funfair, and they will begin implementing it in 2027.

They mentioned that the park would be nicer. But the funfair will still be the same fun event that people love. The organisers are keen to ensure the funfair remains popular for many years, even as the times change. They wish to ensure the funfair remains enjoyable and thrilling for all, and they want to ensure it becomes a fixture of the neighbourhood for years to come.

The Kesselse Feesten funfair in Leuven is closing down because the city of Leuven has made new rules. The city wants to protect the park where the funfair is held. The new rules are about the big floats that are part of the funfair.

The city wants to protect the trees and grass in the park. The people who run the funfair say the new rules are hard to follow. They are also very expensive. The people who run the funfair are a non-profit group. They don’t have enough money to follow the new rules. So, they are closing the funfair.

A new group of people called KesselViert is taking over. They want to keep the funfair going. 4 friends want to follow the new rules the city made. They want to keep the funfair the same, but they also want to make sure the park is protected.

“In the meantime, we are working hard on the organisation of the 57th edition in and around the familiar Heuvelhofpark. Expect another cozy funfair, party tents and a flea market on Whit Monday”,

According to KesselViert.
