Robbery at Jemappes shopping center closes MediaMarkt

Jemappes (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – On April 10, 2025, a robbery occurred at the MediaMarkt in the Jemappes, Belgium, shopping center. Police sent 3 vans, blocked access, and referred questions to the Mons prosecutor’s office.

On Thursday, April 10, 2025, there was trouble caused by a robbery at the Jemappes, district of Mons, Belgium, shopping center.  Police were called to the center, which has stores like Colruyt and MediaMarkt.

3 police vans arrived at the store. There was a lot of police around the MediaMarkt store.  Customers couldn’t go into the store, and police told people to go away from the area.  The police put up a barrier around the store.

What happened during the robbery at the Jemappes shopping center?

The shopping center, which is usually busy in the morning, was shut down.  Shoppers and workers were confused.  Some people are worried because the police are keeping things under control.  

People can’t go into the MediaMarkt store, and police are watching it closely.  The store officials said it’s closed for “special reasons” and will reopen later today. The police in Mons-Quévy won’t talk about what happened at the shopping center.  They said to ask the prosecutor’s office in Mons.  

No one from the prosecutor’s office has said anything yet. But the people conducting the investigation have indicated that they have a robbery. They cannot say whether weapons were used, what was stolen, or whether anybody was injured. Police officers continue to surround the shopping area, searching and viewing security recordings. The police are asking people to stay away.
