Sint-Eloois-Vijve (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Internet service in Sint-Eloois-Vijve has been disrupted continuously for weeks, while Telenet users experience the most severe disruptions during times of high demand. The outages force Fietsen Devos and Brasserie Barrage to experience serious operational problems together with other local businesses, which causes widespread frustration within the community.
Internet connectivity problems continued to affect Sint-Eloois-Vijve residents near Waregem for multiple weeks, especially among users who depend on Telenet communication services. Residents and local businesses face periodic interruptions in their internet service during busy times, which produces both annoyance and operational challenges. Telenet’s spokesperson confirmed that the disruptions stem from a
“technical problem with the central network,”
Specifically a malfunctioning node responsible for signal distribution within the municipality.
Tony Devos from Fietsen Devos, along with other business owners in the area, have shared worries about this unresolved issue because they received no final solution after multiple meetings with technical experts. Multiple businesses have adopted 4G systems after the ongoing communication problem became too challenging to ignore.
“It’s been going on for a few weeks now,”
Responds Tony Devos of Fietsen Devos.
“Like many others here, I’ve already contacted Telenet. Someone came to take measurements, but there was nothing wrong. Afterwards, I called in a network specialist and even a computer specialist, but they couldn’t find a problem, and therefore no solution.”
Brasserie Barrage also regularly experiences internet problems.
“The music suddenly stops, I can’t access my online planning, and the checkout process is blocked. That’s not fun to work with,”
Says Maria Khaouiry of Brasserie Barrage.
“I have now purchased a new payment system on 4G as an alternative, but that costs me 700 euros.“
“At the end of last week, we received reports that there were indeed problems,”
Says spokesman Bart Boone.
“The technical colleagues went on site and apparently there is a technical problem with the central network, the node. This ensures the distribution of the signals to the homes in that municipality.”
“It is still difficult to estimate when the problem will be solved. We are certainly working on it and want to solve the nuisance as soon as possible. Will there be compensation for the deputies? It is still too early to make any statements about that. First, the problem must be solved; in the second instance, we can look at each case individually.”
What is the impact of internet issues in Sint-Eloois-Vijve?
Regions that depend on centralised network systems experience internet connectivity challenges in Sint-Eloois-Vijve. Broadband service disruptions at Telenet in Belgium affect both everyday activities and regional economic growth in the country. The extended network failures have thrown doubt upon the stability of digital infrastructure systems in small towns since their business operations increasingly rely heavily on constant internet connectivity.
Statistics demonstrate that Belgium invested heavily in its telecommunications infrastructure, but technical failures and maintenance problems can create localised network problems throughout the country. The main necessity for economic stability and customer satisfaction emerges from maintaining constant internet access because digital services have become crucial for daily activities such as shopping combined with remote work.
