Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Wauters was given a sentence that comprised a 10-day driving ban, a fine of 480 euros, and a repeat practical driving test. She was also fined 80 euros for driving an uninspected vehicle. The court expressed criticism towards her for disregarding government warnings about drink-driving.

The daughter of celebrities in Belgium, Valerie De Booser and Koen Wauters is convicted on charges of being under the influence of alcohol because of her drink driving while being in the car with a vehicle that hadn’t gone to its inspection certificate.

On Wednesday, the court suspended Wauters’ licence for 10 days, fined her 480 euros, and ordered her to retake her practical driving test. This happened on June 23, 2024. Wauters was overtaking the alcohol checkpoint in Ostend at a very high speed. She was arrested by the police and her blood alcohol concentration was found to be 0.74 per mile against the legal limit of 0.5 per mile.

It was not yet confirmed whether a valid inspection certificate existed because the car inspection for Wauters was not provided. At this, it added 80 euros fines to the fee.

The court’s verdict highlighted that despite performing successive warning campaigns prepared by the government over dangers brought about by alcohol intoxication to people driving, Wauters was not paying attention to those messages. “The defendant cannot yet safely drive a motor vehicle in traffic,” the judge stated.

Wauters conviction is part of some recent cases of drink driving by Belgian broadcaster VRT personalities. Last week, Tom Waes had an accident, and just yesterday, it was reported that Ruben Van Gucht had his licence suspended after failing a breath test.

Zita Wauters is known for her work in film and television. She acted in the 2018 movie Niet Schieten, where she played Rebecca Van de Steen. Critics gave her much acclaim for the movie. Zita also appeared in the 2016 mini-series Olly Wannabe playing herself and became more prominent in her role in 2020 and 2024 when she appeared in The Masked Singer as “Dame Blanche”. She also appeared as Lina in Heroes with a tail: The Animal Detectives and made guest appearances on various talk shows and entertainment programs.

On social media, Zita posts her life, travel, and fashion, and has over 200,000 followers on Instagram. In 2019, she started dating Ralph Cannie.
