What happened when three women tried to steal €300 in Mechelen?

When the alarm sounded, the three women ran to the parking lot. A shop assistant chased after them to stop them from stealing. The assistant tried to catch them before they got to their car.

As the three women ran to the parking lot, their driver waited in a running car. When the last woman tried to jump in, the driver panicked and sped off, leaving her hanging out. The shop assistant quickly grabbed one of the shopping bags, but the car drove away with the other bags and the woman. The car raced out of the parking lot toward Leuven, leaving the assistant with just one bag as evidence of the theft.

After the incident, police from the Rivierenland area started looking for the thieves. They found the car in a parking lot in Boortmeerbeek and arrested the four people involved. The police questioned them and then let them go, but two adults will be called back later. The shop was able to recover the stolen items.
