On July 13, 2024, police in Lommel responded to a call about a man in Lutlommel. The man was already known to the police, raising concerns about a difficult situation. To handle it, two teams of four officers two female and two male were sent to his home. They expected the situation could become tense.

What happened during the police response in Lommel

The man doesn’t like the police because they had previously taken his dog, suspecting he was not caring for it properly. This experience made the situation more complicated on July 13.

The man claimed that while he was sleeping on his couch, four police officers pulled at his arms and legs, with white powder nearby. He said they tried to take him outside without clothes, but he wanted to wear pants. At that moment, he was kicking and lashing out, biting and spitting at the officers while threatening to kill them if he saw them again. One female officer was unable to work for 30 days, while another had saliva and blood in her eyes and mouth, and a third officer suffered a bite through his glove.

The man, who had not completed 340 hours of community service from previous sentences, was given a one-year prison term and fined 800 euros. The three injured officers received 2,696 euros in compensation, and the fourth officer was awarded 271.50 euros. He now has 36 convictions on his record.
