The situation started as a discussion but got worse when the student hit the teacher in the face. Another student recorded the incident, and the video quickly spread on social media.

What actions will Hasselt School take after the student-teacher incident?

The incident has attracted a lot of attention online, the viral video raising concerns about student behavior and safety at school. The school is likely to respond by taking action against the student involved and reviewing their safety rules. Local authorities may also get involved depending on how serious the situation is.

According to Director Werner Nevels, a recent situation has gotten out of control, leading to the spread of concerning images. He expressed sadness about what happened and mentioned how these images are now being shared. Nevels has asked people who have the photos not to share them anymore, saying that doing so can cause harm. He wants to handle the situation carefully and prevent more distress from the ongoing spread of these images.

The director said the teacher and the student were shocked by the incident. The teacher can’t work, while the student is receiving support. The director emphasized that violence at school is unacceptable and that sharing the incident on social media doesn’t help the student recover. The police have arrived to investigate, and the student will be questioned to understand the situation better.
