Bruges (Brussels Morning Newspaper): On 8th October at 6:00 AM, emergency services responded to a fire in a restaurant on Hoogstraat, Bruges. The fire, originating from the kitchen, caused significant damage but no injuries. Traffic was disrupted as crews worked to control the situation.

On 8th October around 6:00 AM, emergency services in Bruges responded to reports of smoke from a restaurant on Hoogstraat in the city center. The fire alarm had gone off, indicating a possible fire. When firefighters arrived, they found that the smoke was rising from the kitchen area. Their quick actions helped prevent the situation from getting worse, and the building was cleared to keep everyone safe. Even though the smoke was heavy, the fire teams quickly checked what was happening and take control of the situation. 

What happened in the restaurant fire on Hoogstraat in Bruges?

There are two apartments above the restaurant, but no one was hurt. However, the restaurant had a lot of damage, especially in the kitchen where the fire started. Fire crews focused on putting out the flames and making sure the people in the apartments were safe.

Due to the fire, Hoogstraat was closed to traffic for a long time so emergency services could work safely and ensure the fire was completely extinguished. This caused some delays in traffic in the city center, but the street closure was necessary to avoid further dangers. The investigation into what caused the fire is still ongoing, but it is clear that the restaurant has suffered a lot of damage, and it will need repairs before it can reopen.
