One dead in Aalst apartment fire: Investigation underway

Aalst (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): A fire at an apartment building on Geraardsbergsestraat in Aalst at 1:15 PM resulted in one death. The East Flanders prosecutor’s office is investigating the cause.

On 27th September fire started around 1:15 PM on the top floor of an apartment building on Geraardsbergsestraat in Aalst. Emergency services quickly arrived, and firefighters worked hard to put out the fire, which caused a lot of damage to the upper part of the building. One person was found dead after the fire, but their identity hasn’t been confirmed yet. No other injuries were reported. Residents were evacuated as a safety measure.

What led to the fatal fire in the Aalst apartment building?

The East Flanders public prosecutor’s office has confirmed that someone died in the fire and has started looking into what caused it. Authorities are trying to find out what happened.
