Mechelen (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): TSM Mechelen plans to relocate its STEM and safety courses campus to Douaneplein, offering a well-rounded education focused on student wellbeing and future job preparation.

The TSM school group wanted to find a new spot for their campus that’s easy for students and suppliers to reach. They’re currently in Mechelen offering STEM and safety courses like woodwork, car repair, construction and welding. It has been said that it’s tough to handle these courses in the city center so they’re moving to a new location to make it simpler for their suppliers. The school is expanding and they need space for the growing number of students. They plan to renovate the building to ensure it’s safe from fires by adding compartments and a mezzanine floor.

How will TSM’s Douaneplein site enhance student well-being and job readiness?

At the Douaneplein site, TSM wants to get students ready for their future jobs while also focusing on their well-being. They aim to make a great place for learning and growing mixing hands-on skills with chances to unwind and have fun. It’s all about having a good balance in life. They want students to not only learn technical stuff but also learn how to handle stress and keep a healthy balance between work and life. Geert Geypen the person in charge of making Mechelen better is excited about how good the Douaneplein area will be for students. They said that it’s going to be a lively place that matches what TSM wants to teach. This fun environment will help students get more involved and happier getting them ready for their jobs with confidence and strength.

The new Douaneplein site will have  circus school, a party hall and a climbing hall to make it fun and versatile. These places will give students more fun things to do outside of regular classes making their time there even better.

They’re also going to talk with TSM about using the classrooms for activities after school hours. They want to find ways to let students use the rooms in the evenings and on weekends for different things making the learning environment more exciting and flexible. TSM has asked the government for money to help them buy the Ninatrans building. They want to grow their school to have more students and offer better education. They plan for students to start using the new building from 2021 to 2027 if they get the money. They are ready to include the Ninatrans building in their school setup as long as they get the subsidy.
