De Ster park closes Aquapark and Aquarena due to toxic algae outbreak in Sint-niklaas

Sint-niklaas (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): The Aquapark Jump and Aquarena in Sint-Niklaas are closed due to toxic blue-green algae. The beach remains open but measures are being taken to prevent future algae growth including using lasers to deter birds.

The Aquapark Jump and the Aquarena in De Ster park in Sint-Niklaas will be closed for a while because there’s blue-green algae there. This type of algae also called cyanobacteria can make toxins that are dangerous for people and animals. The reason they closed the Aquapark Jump and Aquarena is because the algae there can make toxins that are bad for people and animals.It has been said that if you come into contact with the contaminated water you might get headaches, skin rashes, stomach issues or even more serious problems like breathing difficulties or liver damage. They closed the area to keep everyone safe until they can fix the issue.

How is De Ster Park addressing toxic Algae issues at Aquapark Jump and Aquarena?

At the park in Sint-Niklaas they had to close the Aquapark Jump and Aquarena because of the algae. They closed it to keep everyone safe until they can clean it up. Even though they closed the Aquapark Jump and Aquarena the beach at De Ster is still open for swimming. But they are keeping a close watch to make sure it’s safe. De Ster has had problems with this algae before causing swimming bans whenever they find it. They close the areas to keep people healthy until they can fix the algae issue.

To stop the algae problem at De Ster they want to use lasers to scare away birds that poop in the water. The bird droppings have stuff that makes the algae grow. They’re trying to keep the birds away to make the water cleaner. They want to use lasers to scare off the birds from the water so that the algae doesn’t grow too much. This will make the water cleaner.They won’t have to close the Aquapark Jump and Aquarena as often. It’s part of their plan to deal with the algae problem better.
