In the future the city’s new bike program plans to keep improving by making more bike paths and adding better facilities for cyclists. They want to make it easier to combine cycling with public transport make intersections safer for cyclists and keep promoting a bike-friendly culture through education and community involvement. What is Antwerp Doing to Improve Cycling Infrastructure?

The bike parking at Antwerp-Berchem station a major transit spot will be expanded from 2025 to 2030 to meet the increasing demand from people who like to cycle around the city. This expansion is meant to make it easier and more convenient for cyclists encouraging sustainable ways of getting around the city. They are upgrading the bike parking under Groenplaats to make it better for cyclists. The aim is to modernize and improve the parking facilities to be more user-friendly for people who visit the busy Groenplaats area. The city of Antwerp and NMBS are working together on these projects to match Antwerp’s overall urban mobility goals and encourage cycling over using cars.

Koen Kennis the Alderman for Mobility is emphasizing the importance of improving bicycle parking facilities at train stations. Koen Kennis the Mobility Alderman is working on making more bicycle streets in Antwerp. These streets are crucial for the city’s cycling network and safety for cyclists. One famous bicycle street is Turnhoutsebaan which is being redesigned with separate bike paths in both directions. This will make it safer and more convenient for cyclists.
