Antwerp (Brussels Morning) – The school trip was disrupted by a highway accident but the school quickly found an alternative at De Ster park where the students had a great time despite the change in plans.
A school trip from Antwerp’s Left Bank to the sea got messed up because the E34 highway in Vrasene was closed due to a big accident involving trucks and a car. The accident caused long delays so the school group couldn’t make it to the beach like they wanted to. Even though the original plan got messed up the school found a quick solution. They took the kids to a place called De Ster in Sint-Niklaas instead. De Ster has lots of fun things to do so the students still had a great time there. The school said the kids had a great time at De Ster and were happy despite the change in plans. The school board was glad and thankful that the children had a good day even though things didn’t go as expected.
How did a school trip get disrupted by an accident on the E34 highway in Belgium?
The kids from De Dobbelsteen Primary School were all excited for their trip to the seaside with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders. They had two buses ready to take them. The first bus left a bit earlier and made it to the seaside but the second bus got delayed. There was a big accident on the E34 highway in Vrasene involving three trucks and a car which led to the closure of the highway between Beveren and Sint-Gillis-Waas towards Knokke-Heist. That’s why the second bus got stuck in the traffic jam and couldn’t move forward.
Director Jana Mathyssen was upset because the second bus with students and staff got delayed due to the accident. Only one person got slightly hurt in the accident but it caused a lot of traffic issues. The closure of the E34 highway affected not only the school trip but also many other travelers. The students and teachers on the second bus had to wait until the road reopened. It was a reminder of how unexpected events can disrupt even the best-planned activities.
