Brussels (Brussels Morning) – From July 15,2024 to August 2024 the Delta Tunnel will be closed for asbestos removal and the Beaulieu Bridge will be closed for road surface maintenance.
From July 15 to the end of August the Delta Tunnel will be completely closed because they need to remove asbestos. During this time cars will have to use a different way through Waversesteenweg, Vorstlaan and Invalidenlaan. The Beaulieu Bridge above the E411 and Delta Tunnel will be closed until the end of summer for road surface maintenance by the mobility service. Make sure to plan ahead for these detours and roadworks during this time to avoid traffic jams and have a smooth trip.
What Summer Roadworks and Tunnel Maintenance Are Planned in the City?
Starting from July 1 the Tervuren Tunnel will undergo maintenance. However, the tunnel will not be completely closed. Instead the tunnel shaft heading towards the city center will be closed and traffic in both directions will be rerouted through the tunnel shaft leading towards the suburbs. This arrangement will continue until August 5. From that date the tunnel shaft towards the city center will reopen and the tunnel shaft towards the suburbs will then close for maintenance. This means that traffic in both directions will use the tunnel shaft heading towards the city center from August 5 onwards. It has been said that motorists should be prepared for potential delays and changes in traffic patterns due to these maintenance works and plan their routes accordingly to minimize disruptions
Major Avenues:
Summer maintenance work on the tunnels and the Beaulieu Bridge the mobility service will be addressing several major avenues around the city.
Vuurkruisenlaan Transformation
In the north of the city Vuurkruisenlaan is getting a big renovation. They’re changing things to make traffic flow better and keep everyone safe like people walking and biking. They’ll make new traffic routes better intersections and safer spots for people to cross the road.
Sainctelette Redesign
In the Brussels canal area they’re changing Sainctelette to fit different ways of getting around and make the area more lively. They might make the sidewalks wider add more green areas and upgrade public transportation. The goal is to make Sainctelette a more fun and easy-to-reach place for people living there and visitors.
Two-Way Cycle Path Construction
They’re building a new bike path between Leopold III-laan and Haachtsesteenweg to make biking easier. It’s part of the city’s plan to encourage more people to ride bikes instead of driving. These changes are part of the city’s big plan to make things better for everyone and promote eco-friendly ways to get around. So, drivers and people living there should know about these changes and plan their routes accordingly.
They’re also improving the Kleine Ring for bikes and working on making Toots Thielemans metro station, Central Station metro station and Koningsplein better.
