Brussels, 19 September, (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Perché rooftop at the JAM Hotel in Saint-Gilles will permanently close on 26 September after eight years in operation, according to Brussels broadcaster BX1. The team behind the venue plans to focus on larger outdoor events following a final farewell night.
Perché will close on 26 September
Perché opened in 2018 on the roof of the JAM Hotel on Chaussée de Charleroi. The Brussels venue became particularly known for its swimming pool and summer events, while operating as a rooftop cocktail bar throughout the year.
LO Group’s website currently lists the venue at 132 Chaussée de Charleroi and says it opens every day from 5pm until 1am. The operator describes Perché as being located on the rooftop of the JAM Hotel, with cocktails and views across the Belgian capital.
A final farewell evening is scheduled for Saturday, 26 September, before the venue permanently closes.
LO Group plans to focus on outdoor events
Thomas Trothen, one of the figures behind Perché, said the operators intend to redirect their attention towards large-scale outdoor events organised through LO Group.
Speaking to La Libre in comments reported by BX1, Trothen said:
“We are finishing with heavy hearts, but this gives us the opportunity to focus on large-scale outdoor events.”
The statement provides the clearest explanation so far for the decision. BX1 reported on 19 September that the owners want to concentrate on organising major open-air events following the rooftop’s closure.
Perché built its identity around Brussels views
The Perché rooftop developed a distinctive identity through its combination of cocktails, elevated views and its swimming pool.
LO Group continues to describe the venue on its official website as a rooftop bar in central Brussels with what it calls one of the capital’s finest views.
The operator says:
“We offer a fine selection of cocktails to sip while admiring one of the most beautiful views of the capital in a relaxed and warm atmosphere.”
The venue is accessed through the JAM Hotel, with visitors taking the lift to the sixth floor before reaching the rooftop. LO Group currently says no reservation is required for regular visits.
Closure ends an eight-year run
Perché’s departure will end a hospitality concept that has operated at the JAM Hotel since 2018. BX1’s report specifically highlighted the swimming pool and summer evenings as features for which the venue became known.
The closure comes as Brussels’ hospitality and nightlife businesses continue to adapt their concepts to changing customer demand, although Perché’s operators have specifically presented their decision as a shift towards larger events rather than announcing an exit from the sector.
Final farewell event confirmed
The final confirmed date for the Perché rooftop is 26 September 2026.
A farewell evening is planned for that date, after which the current rooftop operation will permanently close. LO Group is expected to concentrate on its outdoor event activities, but no detailed programme of future events was included in the closure announcement reported by BX1.
