Geel (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A 60-year-old Romanian motorist attempted to attach a trailer to his truck during morning hours before becoming wedged between the truck and the wall.

A 60-year-old Romanian trucker died in a work-related industrial accident that happened early this morning at TML company in Geel, which functions as a DAF Trucks subsidiary. The driver died after getting stuck between his truck and the wall when he was trying to attach a trailer. He passed away right after medical personnel attempted resuscitation. Emergency personnel, including medical teams and the fire brigade, responded to the incident at the location and assisted.

The driver faced the accident while trying to parallel park his rig at 7:15 am. Emergency responders managed to free the trapped man through window smashing before attempting to revive him, but he died from his wounds on location. The incident took place within TML’s offices, which are operated by DAF Trucks’ corporate subsidiary. Authorities from the labour inspectorate work to identify the exact conditions that led to the incident. The company has received official clearance to leave the site while ongoing investigations take place.

What is the context of industrial accidents in workplaces?

Workplace industrial accidents are a fundamental concern despite their scarcity since they mainly affect manufacturing and logistics industries. The company TML operates as a DAF Trucks subsidiary while following strict safety guidelines to avoid industrial incidents. The determination of causes and safety protocol compliance follows standard procedures through inspectorate investigations.

Geel serves as the site of this incident, and it remains active in automotive manufacturing and other industrial activities. The organisation focuses on workplace safety through both worker training and proper tool utilisation as they work together to decrease potential hazards. The incident emphasises that all high-risk settings require regular safety checks together with strict adherence to established regulations.
