6 arrested in Bruges station stabbing, including teen woman

Bruges (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A violent fight at Bruges station injured 2 people. 6 suspects, including a 19-year-old woman, were arrested. 1 is detained, and 1 has an ankle monitor. Court decision due Friday, July 18, 2025.

According to VRT News, there was a fierce brawl at Bruges station at around 7 in the morning on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The brawl commenced around 7 a.m. between 2 groups of young men. The fight started over an argument, which soon escalated to a knifing brawl.

This raised alarm among those who witnessed it, and an immediate reaction from local authorities. 2 people were hurt and taken to the hospital, although their wounds were not life-threatening.

Who was involved in the Bruges train station stabbing?

After the fight, the public prosecutor started an investigation. They asked for a judge to look into the case, suspecting attempted manslaughter and assault. 5 men aged 19 and 20 were arrested by police from different parts of Flanders, Merelbeke, and Zelzate.

Currently, the police are trying to understand what happened during the fight between the accused and each person’s role. They will be reviewing video footage and speaking with witnesses and hoping to understand what actually happened. including what weapons were used by whom. 

The stabbing at Bruges station saw a 19-year-old woman arrested. She was taken into custody by the investigating judge and decided to hold her there. It is unclear precisely what role she played in the fight.

The woman and the rest of the 6 suspects will be brought before the Bruges council on Friday, July 18, 2025. The council will decide whether some of the suspects could be released under supervision or if the detentions have to continue.

Following the violent fight at Bruges train station, the judicial process has taken several turns for the suspects. The investigating judge in Bruges decided to detain 1 of the male suspects as the investigation continues. Another suspect was also arrested, but instead of traditional detention, they are under electronic surveillance. 

A 3rd individual was released under certain conditions, not disclosed to the public, having not been arrested. The other 2 suspects in the original group had also been released after interrogation, perhaps suggesting that either they played a lesser role, or there simply was insufficient evidence against them at this time.
