The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. The motorcyclist was coming from Geraardsbergen when a car suddenly came out of Pachtweg, a side street, and crossed the road.
What caused the fatal motorcyclist crash in Parike, East Flanders?
The fire department set up a tent at the accident site to shield the victim. An ambulance and the fire brigade arrived quickly to provide first aid, but the motorcyclist could not be saved. He died at the scene. The driver of the car, a 46-year-old man, was unharmed in the collision.
Police and firefighters have completely closed the road between Geraardsbergen and Brakel at the location of the crash. Initial investigations revealed no evidence of drug or alcohol consumption and no information that the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic expert is also on the scene to assess the accident and establish the circumstances surrounding the events. Authorities are still trying to identify the factors related to the fatal crash.
“The initial investigation suggests that the driver may have violated the right-of-way rules, but definitive conclusions will only be drawn after the full expert report,”
