Deurne (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A 19-year-old was seriously injured in a stabbing at Spectrumschool in Deurne. A 20-year-old suspect has been arrested following a fight involving four people.

He got into a fight with three brothers, ages 14, 16, and 20, and once got stabbed in the back with a knife. There is no threat to the victim’s life.

The 20-year-old was taken into custody by the police, and his younger brothers will be questioned thereafter.

The cause of the altercation that started at the school this afternoon at around 1 p.m. is being looked into by the police.

“During the fight, one of the three brothers pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the back. He was taken to the AZ Monica, but his condition is stable,”

says Kim Bastiaens, spokesperson for the Antwerp Police Zone, Belgium.

Following the event, the three brothers ran away, but the police were able to swiftly apprehend them. The man, 20, was taken into custody. We’ll interview his brothers later. The blade has been seized.

What support is available for the injured victim and his family?

In addition to being physically present, friends, family, and community members can offer vital emotional support by listening, reassuring, and encouraging the victim to communicate their feelings. To help deal with the trauma, anxiety, or sadness brought on by the incident, professional counseling or therapy may also be helpful.

The victim could require assistance with everyday duties including cleaning, cooking, getting to and from doctor’s appointments, and overseeing physical treatment or rehabilitation. During recuperation, these loads might be lessened with the help of friends, family, or neighborhood volunteers.

Recovery results can be enhanced by helping with rehabilitation activities and going with the victim to doctor’s appointments. Comprehensive care is ensured by coordination with healthcare providers.

In order to make the victim and their family feel more comfortable following the violent incident, victim support organizations can offer guidance and assistance in creating safety plans.
