What caused the deadly Herselt crash involving a Fiat 500?
The police are investigating the crash. The truck driver was not injured but is upset about what happened. The police are looking at the road, the cars, and anything that might have caused the accident.
Chief Commissioner Tom Daelemans, who is in charge of the police in the area, said they are investigating. People in Westerlo are sad because the people in the car were all young and from the same town.
5 young people from Westerlo were in a small car called a Fiat 500. Police mentioned that because the car was so small, it was hard for the rescuers to get to the people inside. The mayor said it was hard to get the people out of the car quickly.
The police are looking into what caused the crash in Herselt. They think the small car, the Fiat 500, didn’t stop at the intersection. The truck driver wasn’t drinking, but the driver of the Fiat was. The police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened.
“The car probably did not stop when it entered the Aarschotsesteenweg, which is what it should have done,”
Says Chief Commissioner Daelemans.
“The Aarschotsesteenweg is a priority road.“
