BRUSSELS (Brussels Morning) – Several trucks with relief supplies that had been blocked in Brussels for several days because there was no money to pay for the fuel, will still be able to leave for Ukraine. After the media reported about the problems, new donations came in, the aid organisation Renaissance de la Nation said on Saturday.

The organisation collects the relief supplies in Palace 11 at the Heysel in Brussels. 33 full trucks have already been sent to Ukraine, but another 13 trucks have been detained for several days. There are still trucks on the way.

Many material donations are still coming in. The organisation says that it mainly needs medical equipment. Clothing is no longer necessary at this point.

Relief supplies do not leave Brussels due to shortage of money for fuel.

Twelve trucks with relief supplies destined for Ukraine are standing still in Palace 11 at the Heysel in Brussels. The reason: The aid organisation doesn’t have enough funds to pay for the fuel. They hoped that donations would come in soon to send all the food.

The non-profit organisation Fonds Renaissance de la Nation has completely taken over a large part of Palace 11 with rows of relief supplies. The only problem was that they would remain there for the time being.

The aid organisation previously sent 33 full trucks to Ukraine, but that seemed no longer possible.

“We don’t get enough financing at the moment. The bill of the non-profit organisation can’t keep up with the demand for trucks. There are too many trucks waiting, but we can’t afford the fuel,” said Sergiy Lytvyn of the Renaissance de la Nation Fund.

Twelve trucks are standing still and fifteen more are approaching to be filled. In the meantime, donations of resources continue to flow in from all over the country.

“There is still a need for sleeping bags, mattresses, small gas candies to heat up food, flashlights, food for babies, medicines and hygiene products,” said Lytvyn.
