Spain nominates Calviño for Eurogroup president

Spanish Finance Minister Nadia Calviño is running to become the first female president of the Eurogroup.

Spains Socialist government announced Calviños candidacy Thursday, the deadline for nominations.

“The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, considers that it would be an honor for the Government of Spain if Nadia Calviño could preside over the Eurogroup, a responsibility that Spain has never exercised and that a woman has never performed before,” the government said in a statement.
