Shane Warne admitted England outplayed Australia in all facets after their eight-wicket win over the defending World Cup champions on Thursday.

England booked their place in a first World Cup final since 1992 after cruising to victory at Edgbaston.

Three wickets apiece from Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid helped England bowl Australia out for just 223 after Aaron Finch had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Jason Roy then smashed 85 off 65 balls and Joe Root, Eoin Morgan and Jonny Bairstow all made contributions as England reached the target with more than 17 overs remaining.

Im disappointed from a personal point of view, Australia legend Warne told Sky Sports. They were outplayed from the off.

The first ten overs were crucial and Australia were 27-3. They tried to recover; Carey showed guts and courage and Smith showed his class, thats why hes one of the best.

You thought if they could get 250 they might have have a chance, but England showed their class. They were superb with bat and ball.

To me theyre peaking at the right time, thats what you need at World Cups. England were outstanding in all departments and outplayed Australia, simple as.
