Ramsey dropped to the bench for Arsenals second game of the season, and Emery had urged his midfielder to force his way back into the side during the week.
Emery wanted Ramsey to forget his contract stand-off with the club, and told the Welshman as much during a chat after the Chelsea defeat last weekend.
Arsenal came from behind to beat West Ham at the Emirates and Emery praised Ramsey for his role in claiming the first win of the season.
He worked 90 minutes, Emery said.
Each moment he played when the team needed him. His speed and experience is very important for us.
They can give him the ball in a difficult moment because he plays with high personality.
Ramsey stood out in what was a difficult game against the Hammers, with Arsenal benefitting from a freak own goal in the second half to go in front.
Danny Welbeck then made sure of the three points with a late strike, and Ramsey admitted he and his team-mates were still adjusting to Emerys style of play.
Second half we created a few opportunities and its a new process for us. We had a tough start and are trying to improve every game, Ramsey explained.
It was difficult, it was my first 90 minutes – even through pre-season – so I am glad I got that in the system. We are progressing every game, it was open at times, but I am glad we got a win.
He (Unai Emery) wants us to press high up the pitch.
