This is the heartbreaking moment a cameraman found his screaming family buried in the rubble of a hellish bombing raid in Syria.

Footage captured in rebel-held Eastern Ghouta shows a man trying to pull his pregnant aunt, grandmother and four cousins from the remains of a destroyed building following intense airstrikes by forces loyal to Bashar al-Assad.

The video shows a woman crying out in fear and pain as rescuers attempt to free her from ruins.

An injured young boy can also be seen in the distressing clip.

The video, obtained by ITV, comes just days after UNICEF issued a powerful but blank statement, claiming that no words were capable of describing the horror and hell on earth faced by civilians in the region.

Syrian government warplanes supported by Russia have continued their bombardment of the rebel-controlled eastern suburbs of Damascus for a sixth day, killing five people, according to activists.

This fresh bombardment comes a day after world leaders called for an urgent ceasefire in Syria to allow relief agencies to deliver aid and evacuate the critically wounded from besieged areas.

The opposition’s Syrian Civil Defence Rescue Group reported new airstrikes in Douma, Arbeen and other towns that make up the eastern suburbs of Damascus known as eastern Ghouta.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least five people were killed in raids on Hammouriyeh, Zamalka, Douma and al-Marj.

The UK-based group monitors the Syria war through a network of activists on the ground.
